As we near the start of the 2020 British GT Championship racing season, we caught up with Doculife-sponsored driver Mia Flewitt of Flewitt Racing to find out how preparations for the upcoming season are going.
The opening round at Oulton Park Circuit – originally scheduled for the 11th April – was pushed back until the 1 August due to the COVID19 pandemic. As a result the McLaren 570S GT4 driver had to adopt a more creative approach to her preparation.
With a national lockdown in effect, preparation for the upcoming season was home-based. Mia dedicated her time to getting physically fit as well as planning for the busy season ahead.
Going racing involves a lot more than turning up at the circuit and getting in the car to drive. For each round, Mia organizes and plans travel bookings, hotel reservations, sponsor and VIP invitations, spectator tickets, hospitality, catering, entry passes, and merchandising. Additionally Mia coordinates schedules and requirements with her race team and co-driver.
